Rob Jetten may become the youngest prime minister of the Netherlands and the first openly gay person to hold this position. The politician supports Ukraine, advocates for green energy, and aims to steer the country back to a progressive course.

After a stunning performance in Wednesday's elections, Rob Jetten, the leader of the centrist liberal party D66, may become the youngest head of government in Dutch history and the country's first openly gay prime minister, reports Euronews.

The centrist politician stated that he wants to address the housing crisis in the Netherlands and build 10 new cities, while reducing bureaucratic red tape will allow for the construction of 100,000 new homes per year.

Jetten also promised to increase funding for integration programs and combat illegal immigration by allowing asylum applications to be submitted outside the EU.

The potential next prime minister, who grew up in the province of Brabant in southern Netherlands, is set to marry his Argentine partner, international-class hockey player Nicolás Keenan, next year.
