Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated that Minsk is ready to apologize if its guilt in the incidents involving meteorological balloons that violate Lithuania's airspace is proven, according to the Telegram channel "Pool of the First."
Lukashenko noted that Belarus is ready to take responsibility if its involvement in the launch of meteorological balloons is confirmed. "If we are convinced that we are guilty, we will apologize, that’s for sure," said the president of the republic.
Lukashenko's statement followed the decision of the Lithuanian government to discuss the indefinite closure of the border with Belarus on October 29, as announced by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.
According to her, these measures are a response to the regular launches of meteorological balloons from Belarusian territory, which disrupt airport operations.
In the past week, Lithuania's airspace has been violated three times, affecting 95 flights and nearly 14,000 passengers.
