In Germany, professions with the highest number of migrants have been identified

Migrants are most commonly found in professions such as welders, cooks, and builders, reported the Federal Statistical Office of Germany. The fewest newcomers and their descendants are among police officers and rescuers.

More than a quarter of all working residents of Germany (26 percent) were immigrants and their descendants by the end of 2024. In some sectors, their share reaches about half, the Federal Statistical Office of Germany reported on Wednesday, October 22.

The highest number of migrants - among builders and cooks

Statisticians considered people whose parents or who themselves arrived in Germany after 1950. They are most commonly found in professional fields such as welding technology (60%), cooks and food production (54%), scaffolding construction (48%), public transport driving (47%), meat processing (46%), and catering services (45 percent).

Among other leaders in this indicator are plastic and rubber production (44%), hospitality (40%), truck driving (39%), metalworking (37%), and elderly care (33 percent).

The lowest number of migrants - among police officers and rescuers

The fewest immigrants and their descendants are found among police officers (7%), emergency service workers (8%), employees of government and insurance institutions, primary school teachers, and lawyers (9% each), and tax inspection workers (10 percent).

These data were obtained from a micro-census conducted in 2024 among 1% of residents of Germany aged over 15. Sociologists did not include those living in communal housing or dormitories. Therefore, many refugees were not included in the statistics.
