Sikorski: Poland does not guarantee that Putin's plane will not be forcibly landed.
Poland cannot guarantee that the plane of Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be forcibly landed if it flies over the territory of the state. This was stated by the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radoslaw Sikorski, as reported by Wiadomosci.
"Poland respects the decisions of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Therefore, we cannot guarantee that an independent court will not order our government to detain such a plane," the diplomat said.
Sikorski also noted that a ban on the entry of Russian planes is in effect throughout the entire territory of the European Union (EU). He pointed out that it is possible to fly from Russia to Hungary "via Turkey, Montenegro, and Serbia."
Earlier, the head of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, stated that the EU country is ready to provide an air corridor for Putin's plane to fly to Hungary for talks with American leader Donald Trump. The minister emphasized that providing all conditions for achieving peace is a logical step.
