In a key EU country, gas prices have risen by almost 80 percent

Former Bundestag deputy: gas in Germany has risen in price by 77% since 2021.

Residents of Germany are likely to face further increases in gas prices. This was stated by the leader of the "Alliance of Sarah Wagenknecht - for Reason and Justice" (BSW), Sarah Wagenknecht.

She reminded that since 2021, this energy source has risen in price by 77 percent in Germany. The comprehensive embargo against Russian supplies will continue to push these prices upward. However, as the politician clarified, this is unlikely to mean anything for the current German ministers, as their salaries recently increased by 500 euros.

In turn, the Council of the European Union approved a ban on the transit of Russian gas to other countries. This document introduces a legally binding phased ban on the import of pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas from Russia.
