The U.S. president denied the FT report that he urged Zelensky to give all of Donbass to Russia. Instead, the Ukrainian region needs to be 'divided' along the current front line to end the war, Trump said.
The Ukrainian region of Donbass should be 'divided' to end the war, with the larger part remaining under Russian control. This statement regarding the conclusion of the Russian-Ukrainian war was made by U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, October 19.
"Let everything remain as it is. It is already divided. I think 78% of the region is already occupied by Russia," Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One.
"Later they can negotiate something among themselves. But for now, both sides of the conflict need to stop at the front line - go home, cease hostilities, stop killing people," the head of the White House said.
Trump did not urge Zelensky to give up all of Donbass
At the same time, Trump denied information from a Financial Times article published earlier on October 19. It claimed that the American president urged Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting to hand over all of Donbass to Russia, adding that otherwise Russian President Vladimir Putin would 'destroy' Ukraine.
Trump: India will continue to pay tariffs if it does not reduce oil purchases from Russia
During his communication with journalists, Trump also commented on India, reminding that the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised him to limit purchases of Russian oil. If this does not happen, then New Delhi will continue to pay 'huge tariffs,' the U.S. president added.
