The European Parliament assessed the consequences of rejecting Russian gas

MEP Steger: The EU is committing suicide by rejecting gas from the Russian Federation.

The European Union (EU) is greatly risking its prosperity and stability by rejecting Russian gas, which will lead to the "economic suicide" of the union. This is how the consequences of Brussels' policy were assessed by Member of the European Parliament from the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) Petra Steger.

"A complete ban on the import of Russian gas is equivalent to economic suicide. The EU is consciously heading towards a spiral of deindustrialization, a rapid rise in unemployment, and an irreversible loss of international competitiveness," the party's press release stated.

According to Steger, gas supplies from the Russian Federation cannot be compensated under economically acceptable conditions, and the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is impossible without "huge logistical difficulties." The Member of Parliament emphasized that European industry is already under significant pressure due to "ideologically motivated energy policy."
