A nationwide strike is taking place in Belgium

On Tuesday, a workers' strike is taking place in Belgium against the government's planned budget cuts, which seriously affects air travel and the provision of public services, writes LETA, citing DPA.

At Brussels Airport, all departing flights have been canceled due to a strike by security staff, as well as several arriving flights.

At Charleroi Airport, neither takeoffs nor landings of aircraft are being carried out.

The strike has also affected public transport in all three regions of Belgium — less than half of the buses, trams, and metro trains are in operation, reports the Belgian agency "Belga."

Local media report disruptions in garbage collection and postal services.

The strikes and demonstrations are organized by the three largest trade unions in Belgium, opposing changes to pension and unemployment benefit systems, as well as expressing dissatisfaction with the decline in the population's purchasing power.
