Former U.S. President Joe Biden is undergoing radiation and hormone therapy to combat prostate cancer diagnosed in May, his representative said on Saturday, according to LETA citing AFP.
"As part of the prostate cancer treatment plan, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation and hormone therapy," said the press secretary.
In May, the office of the 82-year-old former president announced that Biden had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to the bones.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer among men.
It is particularly prevalent among older individuals—studies show that approximately 80% of men over 80 years old have cancer cells in their prostate.
While prostate cancer is highly treatable in its early stages, it is the second most common cause of cancer death among men, the organization notes.
