Recruiting foreigners helps the Kremlin conduct the war, reducing domestic losses.

In the near future, about 25,000 Cubans may join the ranks of Russian troops - making them the largest foreign contingent on the front, Forbes reports.

The main incentive for Cubans remains money: the promised two thousand dollars a month is many times higher than the average salary on the island. Some voluntarily sign contracts, while others claim they were deceived — they were offered construction work in Russia but ended up being sent to the front lines. Despite official denials from Havana, analysts believe that mass recruitment is impossible without the consent of the authorities.

Recruiting Cubans helps the Kremlin conduct the war, reducing domestic losses and maintaining political stability. At the same time, foreigners gain combat experience and modern warfare skills, including the use of drones.

Experts warn: the involvement of Cuban units not only intensifies pressure on the Ukrainian front but also creates risks of further dissemination of military experience in other regions.

Meanwhile, already 1,000 to 5,000 Cuban citizens are participating in the war in Ukraine on the side of Russia, and the authorities in Havana actively support the Russian invasion. This is stated by American diplomats, trying to persuade other countries not to vote for a UN General Assembly resolution calling on the U.S. to lift the long-standing trade embargo against Cuba.

Media have also reported on 660 Kazakhs fighting on the side of Russia, 78 of whom have died. On average, it takes 130 days from signing a contract to the death of a mercenary.
