Support for increased defense spending in Europe has fallen by seven percent since April 2024, according to the Euractiv portal.
In April of last year, 74 percent of Europeans supported increased spending. Now this figure has dropped to 67 percent.
According to the study, the strongest support for increased spending is in Central and Eastern European countries. Meanwhile, in Italy, only 48 percent of respondents approve of increased military spending. In Southern Europe, 59 percent of those surveyed support the increase in defense spending.
Additionally, 52 percent of respondents expressed uncertainty about Europe's readiness for a prolonged conflict with a third country.
