The United States wants to prevent the U.N. from lifting the embargo against Cuba due to the involvement of its mercenaries in the war with Ukraine.

Last year, the General Assembly adopted the resolution with 187 votes in favor. Only the U.S. and Israel voted against, while Moldova abstained.
