Euroclear urged the EC to comply with international law regarding Russian assets.
The Belgian depository Euroclear has urged the European Commission (EC) to adhere to international law regarding the use of Russian assets.
According to a representative of the depository, the principles of state property inviolability and property rights must be respected.
In August, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that the European Union will continue to maximize sanctions pressure on Russia.
Earlier, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke out against the confiscation of frozen assets of the Bank of Russia in Euroclear. According to him, such actions are fraught with negative consequences for Belgium as the country where the Euroclear depository is located.
