The Ostankino court continues the proceedings between the family of the late Latvian basketball player Janis Timma and his ex-wife Anna Sedokova. Representatives of the athlete's family claim they have documents that may be significant for the property dispute.
The lawyer for Timma's family, Margarita Gavrilova, spoke about the results of the latest court hearing. According to her, the court granted the petition filed by the family's representatives, and documents were presented to the case materials that, according to the plaintiffs, indicate that Timma acquired the real estate before his marriage to Sedokova.
Did Timma buy the apartments?
Gavrilova stated that the apartments that Sedokova later managed were purchased by Janis Timma before the marriage.
"All the apartments that Anna Vladimirovna Sedokova had at one time were bought before the marriage by Janis Timma, not by Sedokova before the marriage," the lawyer stated.
At the same time, this is the position of one of the parties in the court process. The court has not yet given a final assessment of the presented evidence.
Dispute over the marriage contract
An additional subject of the proceedings is the marriage contract concluded in the USA. The representative of Timma's family questions its legal validity.
When asked if she considers the document to be fake, Gavrilova clarified that she does not call it counterfeit, but "null and void."
According to the lawyer, it is based on this contract that Timma's property ended up with Sedokova, while, as Gavrilova claims, nothing was transferred to the basketball player himself.
The lawyer also disagreed with the arguments from Sedokova's side regarding the possible expiration of the statute of limitations.
The court process continues, and there is currently no final decision on the property dispute.
