Faux Fur Vests Are Back in Trend: Which to Choose and How to Wear Them in Autumn and Winter

Once, faux fur vests were associated with the luxury and gloss of the 2000s — short, voluminous, and definitely in the "expensive-rich" style. Today they are making a comeback, but in a different aesthetic: calm, intellectual, and more refined.

Designers offer an interpretation of "quiet luxury" — soft silhouettes, natural shades, delicate or overtly unusual textures. A faux fur vest is no longer about ostentatious luxury, but about warmth, comfort, and thoughtful style. Stylist Masha Vedernikova shared how to choose a trendy model and incorporate it into your wardrobe.

Minimalism and Neutral Shades

The modern faux fur vest features a minimalist cut and nature-inspired shades: cream, ash gray, cocoa, caramel, warm milk. "No blatant contrasts or glamorous shine; it’s important for the fur to look natural and soft, whether it’s natural or high-quality eco. Minimalism makes the vest versatile: it pairs well with wool dresses, wide trousers, chunky knit sweaters, and even office suits," says the expert.

Length — The Decisive Touch

Short models have given way to elongated silhouettes that gently flow along the figure. Mid-thigh or slightly below is the ideal length for urban autumn and winter. Such a vest visually elongates the silhouette, makes the look more elegant, and is suitable even for shorter women. It can be worn over a coat, creating layers, which is also very trendy right now.

Texture and Material — The Main Focus

The main trend is tactility. "Designers play with contrast: long-haired fur against smooth cashmere, short plush next to matte leather. All this adds depth and an expensive texture to the look. Eco-fur today looks just as good as natural — especially when made from recycled fibers. This choice is not only ethical but also fashionable: sustainability is the new luxury," emphasizes the stylist.

How to Pair a Faux Fur Vest

Forget the stereotype of "only with boots and jeans." Trendy vests look great with a white shirt and wide trousers, with a turtleneck and a midi skirt, with a wool dress and chunky boots. In cool weather, add a belt over the vest — it will accentuate the waist and add structure to the outfit. And if you want a lighter look — wear it open, with a contrasting bag and oversized glasses.

How to Wear It and Not Look Outdated

The key is balance. Don’t overload the look with accessories and makeup: let the vest be the only accent. Forget shiny leggings, chunky jewelry, and stiletto boots — instead, opt for suede knee-high boots or nubuck shoes with a tread, soft bags, and muted makeup.
