Constant fatigue, sudden weight fluctuations, or changes in the skin — all of this may not just be a result of stress. Endocrinologist Stepan Shuparsky explained which symptoms most often indicate a malfunction in the hormonal system and require the attention of a specialist.
1. Chronic fatigue and lack of energy
If you wake up already tired and do not feel a surge of energy even after resting, it may be related to thyroid or adrenal dysfunction. Such disruptions are often accompanied by lethargy and low mood.
2. Menstrual cycle irregularities
In women, hormonal fluctuations often manifest through irregular periods or their complete absence. A recurring disruption is a reason to consult an endocrinologist and check hormone levels.
3. Decreased libido
Loss of interest in intimate life may not only be a psychological issue. It is often related to impaired production of testosterone, estrogen, or other key hormones.
4. Changes in skin and hair
Increased oiliness of the skin, rashes, brittle nails, and hair loss often signal hormonal disturbances, especially those related to the thyroid or sex hormones.
5. Sharp weight fluctuations
Rapid weight gain or loss without obvious reasons is a common sign of endocrine system disruption. The body may improperly expend energy due to metabolic disorders.
Doctor's advice: If you experience such symptoms, do not delay a visit to an endocrinologist. Early diagnosis helps prevent serious complications and restore hormonal balance.
