The 26-year-old athlete has spent nine years in Champéry, but he will not start his 11th competitive season at this training group.
Vasiliev has trained for many years under Lambiel, the silver medalist of the 2006 Olympic Games from Switzerland. In 2022, the Latvian figure skater won a bronze medal at the European Championships.
It is reported that this season, Denis Vasiliev intends to participate in the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, as well as in the Grand Prix events in China and Finland and the Golden Spin tournament in Croatia.
At the 2025 World Championships, Vasiliev secured two quotas for Latvia for the Olympic Games, and it is likely that the second one will be received by Fedor Kulish – a Latvian figure skater originally from Ukraine.
