Latvia's top player Alena Ostapenko has maintained her 29th position in the WTA world ranking. This week, the tennis player will compete in the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto.
The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has published the updated world ranking. Latvia's top tennis player Alena Ostapenko has maintained her 29th position in singles.
Last week, Ostapenko did not participate in any tournaments and is now preparing to compete in the WTA 1000 event in Toronto. This tournament will be an important stage in her preparation for the US Open.
Latvia's second-ranked player Daria Semenistaya has dropped six positions and now occupies the 112th place.
Most other Latvian tennis players have also worsened their positions. Anastasija Sevastova, who has already retired from professional tennis, has fallen to 307th place. Beatrice Zeltiņa is in 430th place, Sabine Rutlauka is 720th, Elza Tomase is 740th, Adelina Lachinova is 789th, and Kamilla Bartone is 815th.
The only representative from Latvia to improve her ranking is Diana Marcinkevica. She has risen 12 positions and now occupies 859th place.
There have been no significant changes in the top ten of the world ranking. The leader remains Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka. Following her are Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, Americans Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. Russian Mira Andreyeva occupies the fifth position.
In the second half of the top ten, there have also been minor rearrangements: Czech players Karolína Muchová and Linda Nosková hold the sixth and seventh places respectively, Polish player Iga Swiatek remains eighth, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina has risen to ninth, and American Amanda Anisimova rounds out the top ten.
In the doubles ranking, Alena Ostapenko has also maintained her position, remaining in 17th place. Daria Semenistaya has dropped to 170th, and most other Latvian tennis players have also lost several positions. The leader of the world doubles ranking remains Czech player Kateřina Siniaková.
