Today and tomorrow, the President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, will be visiting the Vatican, according to the president's working agenda.
During the visit, an audience with Pope Leo XIV and a meeting with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, are scheduled.
The Conclave of the Catholic Church elected American Cardinal Robert Prevost as the new Pope on May 8, 2025, who took the name Leo XIV upon assuming office. Pope Francis, who became pontiff in 2013, passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.
