In the state budgets for the coming years, a number of large expenditures without financial coverage are planned, so it is necessary to look for ways to earn and save budget money, said Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs on Wednesday in the program "Morning Panorama."
According to the Prime Minister, the increase in spending on state security is also one of the areas for which it is necessary to seek more revenue for the budget.
Kulbergs reminded that the government he leads must prepare a budget proposal, but it will be the next government after the parliamentary elections that will adopt it.
Speaking about the reforms proposed by the Ministry of Education and Science, led by the minister from the National Alliance, Kulbergs stated that his government does not wish for experiments and last-minute upheavals.
However, the Prime Minister believes that it is possible to move towards specific changes in the sector, for example, to allow students to correct their grades to some extent. He believes that discussions among the parties in this area are fruitful and moving towards compromise solutions.
In turn, when asked whether a public conflict with another minister from the National Alliance over proposed changes in migration regulation threatens the stability of the government, Kulbergs did not answer directly, only stating that he finds the election period disgusting.
According to Kulbergs, in organizing immigration issues, the main thing is to "cut the root," which he sees in universities, some of which "pull" unskilled migrants to Latvia. In his opinion, it is necessary to separate student flows from different countries.
Kulbergs assured that no one is slowing down the consideration of immigration issues in the government, but it is expected that this will be done thoroughly.
He added that the current coalition partners plan to work in the government even after the elections, so upcoming matters are viewed not only in the context of the elections to the Saeima in a month.
