Russia once again denied plans to attack NATO countries. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko stated that Russia has no reasons, plans, or necessity to attack.

"Why would Russia attack NATO, why? Even the USSR recognized the independence of the Baltic states. And they left peacefully. Why attack them now? There are no reasons, no plans - absolutely none, to attack," said Grushko to Russian media.

Earlier, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev assured that Russia does not intend to attack Europe. "What do the Europeans say? A war with Russia is inevitable. I don’t know where they got that from, but it’s a mantra. It’s said every day. ‘The Russians will definitely attack us.’ In none of the statements, in none of the documents that Russia has adopted, is there any mention of the necessity for any conflicts with Europe. We have no aggressive intentions," Medvedev attempted to convince the doubters.

They do not believe in an imminent attack from Russia in Riga either. As reported by bb.lv, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs stated that "the risk of a direct invasion by Russia currently remains low."

The Latvian counterintelligence does not particularly believe in Russia's desire to attack the Baltic states.

Skepticism regarding Russia's aggressive plans is also expressed by the Commander of the Latvian Army Kaspars Pūce.
