The State Chancellery has published the salary levels of senior officials in Latvia for 2027. The salaries of the president, ministers, deputies, and heads of state agencies will again increase according to the existing calculation system.
The State Chancellery has published information about the monthly salaries of elected officials and officials appointed by the Saeima for 2027. The document shows the salaries that the president, ministers, deputies, and heads of several state institutions will receive starting next year, writes nra.lv.
The highest salary — 9,153 euros per month excluding compensations — is designated for the President of Latvia. The same salary level is set for the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Saeima, the Chairperson of the Constitutional Court, and the Chairperson of the Supreme Court. In comparison, in 2026, their monthly salary is 8,559 euros, which means it will increase by 594 euros.
The salary of ministers will rise from 7,670 to 8,107 euros per month. Thus, the increase will be 437 euros.
The basic salary of a Saeima deputy in 2027 will reach 4,567 euros. Moreover, parliamentarians holding additional positions, such as leading committees or performing other managerial functions, will be able to receive the legally prescribed allowances.
The salary of the Chairperson of the Riga City Council will also increase. Next year, the salary of the capital's mayor will be 7,845 euros per month.
The remuneration of senior officials is calculated according to a legally established system, rather than being determined by individual political decisions. Similar principles apply to employees of state institutions; however, their salaries depend not only on the pay group but also on the level of position, qualifications, professional competencies, work results, and the volume of responsibilities.
Each position in state and municipal institutions belongs to a specific category in a unified job catalog. Within the established range, the head of the institution decides on the size of the individual salary for a specific employee.
