Can Latvia be involved in a war with Iran?

It is extremely important for the Baltic countries to have the participation of the United States and involvement in NATO, and we want to do everything possible to be a reliable partner.

This means using the skills that we and our closest regional allies have acquired by demining the Baltic Sea and its coastline from military remnants dating back to both world wars, said Janis Kajočins, a senior researcher at the Center for Geopolitical Studies and former director of the Satversme Protection Bureau (2003–2013), on TV24, as reported by nra.lv. Kajočins believes that Latvians possess such knowledge; however, to apply it in the Strait of Hormuz, one must first get there. This is certainly possible but will require time. The most important thing is to have a ceasefire, and even better—a peace agreement between the warring parties. For such an agreement to be reached, it is necessary for the major power, the United States, to feel like winners in some sense, and for the smaller Iran to also be able to present it as a victory for themselves. "It is currently very difficult to see who and in what direction could retreat, and the longer this process continues, the more it hampers the global economy. And if, unfortunately, a military conflict starts again, it will further weaken the United States," said Kajočins.
