The Minister of Economics' bill is 'stuck' - this is a kind of asymmetric response from government colleagues to the 'green farmers'.

Today, the 'green farmers' failed to convince their partners at the coalition council of the need to approve the bill by Minister of Economics Viktor Valainis (Union of Greens and Farmers) on the solidarity payment for fuel traders at tomorrow's government meeting. It should be noted that the bill essentially provides for the seizure of 'excess' profits from fuel traders. 'New Unity' and 'Progressives' made it clear that they would not rush to support this bill, the provisions of which may be challenged in the Constitutional Court. The fuel retail companies themselves have already dubbed this 'solidarity payment' a confiscation of profits.

It is obvious that government partners will not be in a hurry to vote for this bill 'in retaliation' for the 'green farmers' unwillingness to support the provision of an urgent loan of 30 million to airBaltic. By the way, the discussion of the situation in airBaltic at the extraordinary government meeting has been ongoing for over two hours... However, even before the meeting, the 'green farmers' stated that the decision on whether to support the provision of a loan to the national airline at tomorrow's meeting of the Saeima Budget Committee would only be made... tomorrow, after communicating with Minister of Transport Aitis Švinka ('Progressives'). At the moment, Švinka is currently informing colleagues about the situation in the national airline at a closed meeting.
