The government discussed the situation arising from the increasing incursions of foreign drones into Latvian territory during a closed meeting.
Today, in a closed session, the government discussed reports from the Minister of Defense and military specialists regarding the response system to incoming drones and the procurement of counter-drone defense systems. As stated at a press conference following the government meeting by Minister of Defense Andris Spruds, a decision has been made to purchase systems for repelling and downing drones this year, including using a drone-to-drone system. According to the minister, approximately 500 such systems will be procured.
