How to Lower Fuel Prices? The Coalition Will Discuss

The agenda includes both the question of implementing the project of the century and airBaltica.

As expected, the ruling coalition council tomorrow will discuss the situation with fuel prices. It is clear that if fuel prices, which have surged due to the crisis in the Persian Gulf, do not stabilize in the next couple of weeks, it will lead to a new wave of inflation - causing a chain reaction of rising prices for goods and services.

What to do? There are few options - one can lower the excise tax and VAT, or utilize reserve fuel. Most likely, the ruling coalition will not make any decisions tomorrow, as they will continue to monitor the situation - hoping that "everything will resolve itself."

It can be assumed that the ruling coalition will discuss the recently released financial indicators of airBaltic, which raise concerns that the government will once again need to invest taxpayers' money to rescue the national airline. The ruling coalition will exchange views on what options are available to stabilize the situation at airBaltic.

The partners also intend to discuss how to make the construction process of Rail Baltica more efficient and cost-effective.

It cannot be ruled out that the "green farmers" will exercise their right to postpone for a week the consideration of the very controversial information report on transferring the non-bank financial sector under the supervision of the Bank of Latvia.
