Early on Tuesday, on the anniversary of the fourth year of the war in Ukraine, about 500 people gathered in Riga at the Freedom Monument for the event "Together to Victory!", LETA reports.
The event began at dawn with a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Ukrainian people. The attendees stood in a specially designated area, forming the outline of Ukraine, thereby emphasizing that the territory of the country should not be divided due to the imperial ambitions of the aggressor.
People came with flags of Ukraine, Latvia, and the European Union, as well as holding placards with inscriptions: "Freedom to Ukraine", "Together to Victory", "Glory to Ukraine", "Wake up, stand up, Ukraine is hurting!", "Heroes need Putin in The Hague", "Freedom cannot be seized". Participants also brought yellow and blue flowers, which they laid at the Freedom Monument.
Under the direction of conductor Matis Tuks, along with soloists Aija Vitolina, Daumants Kalnins, Artem Basov, and choirs, the attendees performed the national anthem of Latvia "God Bless Latvia!", the national anthem of Ukraine "Shche ne vmerla Ukraina", the songs "Truth", "What song will you start with?", "Not your war", and "Green Song".
As noted by the LETA agency, several members of the Saeima and ministers were also present at the event.
Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and the war has already claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians and military personnel.
