Janis Dombrava does not count on the “intelligence and conscience of Russians.”
Saeima Deputy from the National Alliance Janis Dombrava shared his thoughts on the four-year anniversary of the full-scale war on the social network Facebook.
"For a long time, many minds overwhelmed by Soviet nostalgia believed that Russia was so powerful that its 140 million population could easily subjugate Europe with its 500 million people, the USA and Canada with around 400 million, and, if necessary, a few more Asian nations. Over the past four years, the myth of Russia's greatness has collapsed. Four years, enormous losses, and it couldn't even conquer half of Ukraine. The results are tragic. The only thing Russia has achieved is creating a death zone in Europe, destroying infrastructure, and killing a vast number of Russians and Ukrainians.
Russian imperialism is leading the Russian people to destruction and dragging along the Ukrainians who are defending their land. At the same time, Russians are the ones who could end this destruction the fastest. If there is enough intelligence and conscience... But I do not count on that. So far, the desire to die for the Russian Empire and to profit from killing is greater than the desire to live and to raise prosperity through one’s own labor. Meanwhile, we must strengthen Ukraine so that it can save as many lives of civilians and defenders as possible and defend its country from Russian imperialists," the politician wrote.
