Last year, employees of the Ministry of Justice (MJ) were paid monetary awards and bonuses totaling 333,797 euros, Justice Minister Inese Libiņa-Egnerē reported in an interview with the LETA agency.

For significant contributions to achieving the strategic goals of the agency, 14 employees received monetary awards totaling 16,241 euros last year.

During the annual evaluation, 183 employees were assessed, and those who received a positive evaluation were awarded bonuses ranging from 55% to 75% of their base salary, the minister informed.

The total amount of bonuses following the evaluation exceeded 317,556 euros.

Libiņa-Egnerē emphasized that the purpose of the rewards is to motivate quality work in the interests of society.

The minister noted that the Ministry of Justice continues to implement a number of priorities. In particular, amendments to the Civil Procedure Law will come into effect on March 1, stipulating that in the event of a divorce, a notarized agreement on child support will be mandatory to prevent prolonged court disputes.

The minister also reported that the construction of a new women's prison is expected soon with the support of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, as the current facility does not meet modern standards.

Construction is planned to begin in 2028 and be completed in 2031. The total cost of the project is estimated at around ten million euros.
