The president hopes that the sensitive but necessary decisions will be made by the new Saeima in the first year after the elections.
The head of state noted in an interview with TV-24 that the issue of waiting lists for state-funded medical services remains relevant. One of the main reasons is insufficient funding. At the same time, Edgars Rinkēvičs reminded that structural reforms are needed in the healthcare system - changes in the hospital network are necessary, it should be determined whether a tax on medicine should be introduced, whether to impose duties on medical services for our compatriots abroad...
"These are all very sensitive issues, and it is unlikely that the current Saeima will make these decisions. Most likely, these will be resolved by deputies with a new mandate from the people. It would be desirable for these decisions to be made by the new Saeima in the first year after the elections," the president said.
