No One Will Dismantle the Rails

The political scientist urges to think more for oneself.

Political scientist Philipp Raevsky commented during a discussion on TV-24 on calls, including from foreign experts, to dismantle the rails on the Russian route. The political scientist believes that while one can listen to advice, it is important to think for oneself and focus on the interests of one's own country.

F. Raevsky reminded that the Latvian railway was built during the Soviet era and even during the Tsarist period; it is part of a unified system that also includes Lithuania and Estonia. For example, Lithuania cannot hinder the transit of goods to Kaliningrad, and this is an international obligation not only of Lithuania but of the entire EU. Our railway allows for the transportation of goods to Central Asian countries, which is also protected by trade agreements of the EU with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan... If we dismantle our railway, the goods will simply bypass us.

"I still believe that the wealthier a country is, the safer it is, as it can spend more on defense. So why should we become poorer?" the political scientist noted and concluded: "No one will be dismantling the rails!"
