Ukraine's interests in the plan presented by the US were not taken into account, Prime Minister Evika Silina told reporters on Tuesday after a government meeting.
Europe cannot allow Vladimir Putin to achieve a peace plan for Ukraine that does not have a fair outcome and consequences for Putin, promised Evika Silina. She noted that the leaders of the Baltic and Northern European countries (NB8) always communicate when an important turning point in establishing peace in Ukraine arises, and this time was no different.
The NB8 leaders also communicated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who shared his vision of the plan, "understanding that, most likely, the leak of information about it did not come from the US or Ukraine, but from Russia or those acting in its interests."
The Prime Minister acknowledged that Ukraine's interests were indeed not taken into account in this plan. The issue of frozen Russian assets also did not align with the interests of European countries.
Silina emphasized that Ukraine certainly wants peace, but the question is at what cost. Europe, as Silina noted, also realizes that the outcome of this plan will either allow "Putin to have his way in Europe," or it will be possible to ensure that he has no chances for a comeback in Europe.
As reported bb.lv, Ukraine agreed to accept the US peace plan.
