Former Latvian President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, who is the patron of the new film "In the Net. The Birth of the TTT Legend" (Tīklā. TTT leģendas dzimšana), did not appear at its official premiere, although her presence was particularly anticipated, reports nra.lv citing the magazine Privātā Dzīve.
The film directed by Jānis Dreiberģis, which took six years to make, was presented to the public for the first time last Thursday at the Forum Cinemas. However, the large event took place without the former president. Instead of attending, Vīķe-Freiberga sent a letter stating:
"I apologize for not being able to share the joy of the film premiere in Riga with you today due to serious, unforeseen circumstances."
As Privātā Dzīve has learned, the former president is currently unwell and is recuperating at her country house amidst the forests of Iwande. She has already watched the new film in advance — without a large audience.
