Even "budget issues" could not stop... the election campaign of the ruling party. Politicians from three coalition political forces continued their public squabble. According to rumors, at the upcoming coalition council on Monday, Prime Minister Evika Silina will make another attempt to negotiate with partners about a pause in this public reckoning.
The partners will also discuss the "behavior" during the consideration of the budget project in the Saeima. "New Unity" and the "Progressives" fear (and not without reason) that the "Green Farmers" will start radically changing the budget project, proposing to cut certain expenditure items and redirect the "freed-up" funds to other priorities that the "Green Farmers" themselves have determined.
The scenario is supported by the meeting of Saeima Speaker Daiga Mierina with the head of the Employers' Confederation Andris Bite. The Speaker has effectively aligned herself with the business community representative on the issue of more radical cuts to budget expenditures. However, it is still unclear what expenses could be reduced. For example, politicians no longer mention freezing or even reducing salaries in public administration.
