In tomorrow«s vote, the Union of Greens and Farmers does not plan to support the resignation of Silina. What if?

The Union of Greens and Farmers (UGF) does not plan to support the opposition's initiative to resign Prime Minister Evika Silina ("New Unity") at the Saeima meeting on Thursday, October 2, said UGF faction chairman Harijs Rokpelnis.

Andris Šuvajev, the chairman of the "Progressives" faction, also stated that the party's deputies will not support the opposition's draft resolution.

"The outcome of the vote will be determined by the Union of Greens and Farmers faction," the deputy added.

As reported, the opposition parties National Alliance and the "United List" propose to express no confidence in the Prime Minister.

They claim that "the government has been unable to take decisive measures to halt economic cooperation with Russia and Belarus for a long time," and therefore the resignation of the Prime Minister is necessary.

Thanks to the support of the Union of Greens and Farmers last week, the Saeima submitted a draft law on the denunciation of the Istanbul Convention for consideration, which caused friction within the coalition. Nevertheless, the coalition parties promise to work together to approve the "security budget" for the next year.
