In Daugavpils, one of the polling stations was left without electricity supply. The Central Election Commission assured that the outage did not affect residents' ability to vote, and a backup plan is in place in case of a prolonged emergency.

During the elections for the 15th Saeima, a power outage occurred at one of the polling stations in Daugavpils. This was reported by the representative of the Central Election Commission, Iveta Rozenfelde.

According to the CEC, the incident did not affect the voting process. Voters were able to continue voting despite the lack of electricity supply.

The responsible services that deal with emergency situations have already been notified about the incident.

If the power supply is not restored soon, the municipality is ready to move the vote counting to another safe location.

Such a procedure is provided to ensure the continuity of the electoral process even in the event of unforeseen circumstances. It is only about a possible change of the vote counting location, not about a repeat vote or cancellation of the polling station results.

The Central Election Commission continues to monitor the situation. So far, there are no grounds to believe that the power outage could affect the voting results.
