At one of the polling stations in Jelgava, a queue of several dozen people formed in the middle of the day. Some residents preferred not to wait and decided to postpone voting until the evening when the flow of voters would be smaller.

At polling station No. 203, located in the Jelgava Primary School in Parlielupa, a queue of several dozen people formed around noon on Saturday. As LETA reporters found out, some of those who arrived decided not to wait and left the station, planning to return later.

The queue formed because not all members of the commission were handling voter registration at that moment — several staff members were temporarily absent from the hall. Additionally, the wait increased at the voting booths: some people needed more time to make their final choice.

For voters, this means that during peak hours, the wait may take longer. However, voting is allowed until 8:00 PM, so many prefer to come during less busy hours.

After all commission staff returned to registration, the queue quickly disappeared, and the polling station resumed its normal operation.

Among those present were people of different ages and nationalities, as well as families with children. Some discussed political events among themselves even before receiving their ballots.

In Latvia, voters are not tied to their registration location and can vote at any polling station in the country. This allows those who encounter a queue to choose a different time or polling station for voting.

Voting in the elections for the 15th Saeima continues until 8:00 PM.
