The upcoming weekend in Latvia will be rainy and relatively cool. Already on Thursday, the country will be hit by an active cyclone, which will bring heavy precipitation and localized thunderstorms.

After several relatively warm days, the weather in Latvia will once again take on a more autumnal character. According to meteorologists' forecasts, an active cyclone will influence the country in the coming days, bringing frequent rains and a drop in temperature.

The most unfavorable weather is expected on Thursday. The cyclone will approach Latvia from the south, the sky will be predominantly overcast, and many areas will experience prolonged and locally heavy rains. In the afternoon and evening, especially in the eastern regions of the country, thunderstorms are possible.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, precipitation will become less intense, but it will not be completely rain-free. The sun will occasionally appear between the clouds, but at times brief showers will return, and localized thunderstorms may occur.

Air temperatures will remain below typical summer values. During the day, thermometers will mainly show between +15 and +20 degrees, while on some nights, temperatures may drop below +10 degrees in certain areas.

For lovers of outdoor activities and water, this means that a truly summery heat should not be expected in the coming days. When planning trips and outdoor events, it is worth considering the likelihood of rain almost every day.

Meteorologists also draw attention to the situation on the rivers. Due to heavy rainfall, water levels have already begun to rise. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, in certain areas of Latgale and Vidzeme, water levels have risen by about half a meter over the past week. In the coming days, the rise in water levels will continue.

Despite the cool weather, the water in bodies of water remains warm enough for swimming. The temperature in most rivers and lakes ranges from 16 to 21 degrees, while in the sea, it is between 13 and 17 degrees.

Preliminary forecasts indicate that the next week will also remain unstable: rains will periodically return, although a slight increase in air temperature is possible on some days.
