Summer has just begun, and with it, the main seasonal question has returned: should we expect heat or will we have to reach for our jackets more often? According to Martin Bergstein, the lead weather forecaster for the program "900 Seconds," the current forecasts give reason to expect a warmer summer, especially in the second half of the season.

However, the specialist warns that the phrase "warmer than normal" does not mean continuous heat. Rather, it refers to an increased likelihood of periods of intense heat and heatwaves, although cooler and rainy periods are still expected in between.

The meteorologist reminds us that for a Latvian summer, this is absolutely normal — sunny days are traditionally followed by cooler weather, and there is nothing unusual about that.

For those already planning vacations, weddings, festivals, or celebrations, the expert advises not to rely too much on long-term forecasts. The most accurate forecasts remain those for the coming hours and days, while it is relatively reliable to assess the weather about 7-10 days in advance.

Many are particularly interested in the weather for Ligo. While meteorologists do not provide precise forecasts yet, the initial signals look optimistic: the long holiday weekend is likely to be warmer than usual. However, according to the specialist, it is unlikely to be completely without rain.
