During the spring season, interest in home and garden products noticeably increases in the retail chain "LaTS" and the online store E-latts.lv. With the onset of warm weather, people are increasingly engaged in cleaning their homes and improving the surrounding area, which is clearly reflected in purchasing habits.
Moreover, more often than not, both everyday cleaning products and items necessary for gardening work are purchased in a single transaction.
Elena Buksha, head of e-commerce projects, notes that spring is traditionally the most active period in the home and garden product category. "With the arrival of spring, people start to take more intensive care of their homes and surroundings. We see that customers often choose both cleaning products for the home and necessary gardening items — seeds, planting trays, gloves, cleaning tools, and other practical things — within a single purchase," explains Buksha.
At the same time, consumer habits are changing. In spring, residents increasingly take trips around the cities of Latvia, as well as to summer houses and rural areas. This means a rise in demand for items necessary to tidy up the territory after winter and prepare for the summer season. In such cases, the ability to quickly and conveniently purchase everything needed — near home or the destination — becomes particularly important.
The most popular home products during this period are various cleaning agents, paper products, kitchen utensils, and household chemicals. Although these items are regularly purchased throughout the year, demand for them increases in spring as many use this time for more thorough cleaning.
At the beginning of the gardening season, interest in simple tools, gloves, garbage bags, and other practical solutions that help tidy up the yard, garden, or summer house increases. These products are often purchased together with everyday items when visiting the nearest store.
"Customers appreciate the ability to quickly acquire necessary items at the store near their home without prior planning. If gardening work begins and seeds, soil, gloves, or cleaning supplies are needed, all of this can be purchased nearby, along with groceries. This means there is no need to specifically travel to another city or a large supermarket," emphasizes Buksha.
The online store E-latts.lv is also playing an increasingly important role, where home and garden products can be purchased together with groceries in one order. This saves time and allows customers to receive everything they need with delivery to their home or specified address.
"In the online store, we see a somewhat different purchasing structure — people more often choose larger and bulk orders, for example, several cleaning agents or home products at once, adding them to the overall grocery order," says Buksha. "We also observe that customers actively take advantage of promotional offers specifically in the home and household product category, often adding them to their cart along with everyday purchases.
