Today, various Easter events will take place in Riga, reported the external communication department of the Riga City Council.
In Victory Park, visitors will be greeted by a stage program, ten Easter swings, and creative workshops — egg painting, creating Easter symbols and figures from natural materials, and themed wooden games.
Guests will be delighted by the vocal studio "Tev un man," as well as the children's play "The Colored Egg and the Big Question."
The community "Stiprās sievas" and the folklore group "Skandinieki" will introduce folk traditions, the group "Viedais fonogrāfs" will perform, and the concert of the musical ensemble "Raxtu Raxti" is expected to conclude the event. The event will be hosted by actor Mārtiņš Bruveris.
From 12:00, the outdoor area of the "Imanta" cultural center will host the event "Spring Call." Visitors will be able to participate in Easter activities with experts in Latvian traditions, swing on swings, take part in "egg battles," creative workshops, and games, as well as watch the children's play "The Adventures of a City Boy in the Village" and a performance by the ethnographic group "Ogas." The hosts will be Zane Reitere and Edgars Zilberts.
Family events "Following the Rabbit" will take place at the House of Blackheads, reported public relations specialist of SIA "Rīgas nami" Jānis Bunte. Children will help the Easter Bunny find the eggs hidden in the building, for which they will receive a surprise from the store "Rotaļnīca."
The "egg hunt" can be participated in today and tomorrow from 10:00 to 17:00. Large-format games from "BigGames" will be available on both days.
While the children are busy searching for eggs, adults can explore the medieval cellars, historical offices, and silver collection.
On the second day of Easter, April 6, from 12:00, the return of spring will be celebrated in the territory of the Great Stage in Mežaparks. Visitors can expect egg relays, rolling competitions, egg painting, workshops for making Easter decorations, and other educational and sports activities for children and adults. A special event will be the interactive light and sand tables produced in Latvia as part of the project "House of Light and Sensations."
Swings will be installed on the premises, and a café will be operating. The musical program will be provided by the choir "Fēnikss," DJ VinK, and musicians from the group "Elektrofolk." The host will be Juris Murmanis.
At the cultural palace "Ziemeļblāzma" on the second day of Easter, families with children aged five and older can attend the concert "Easter Games."
In the creative workshop in Ziemeļblāzma Park, from 12:00, the team "Lielās koka spēles" will conduct gaming activities, and at 15:00, the "Rīga" Orchestra and singer Daumants Kalniņš will perform a concert that introduces children to the history of popular board games.
At 16:00, the concert "Lux Paschalis" will take place at the "Mazā ģilde" cultural center, featuring the early music ensemble "ÆLDMUSIC."
At St. John's Church in Riga at 19:00, the oratorio "Messiah" will be performed. The concert will feature the Riga Chamber Choir "Ave Sol," the Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, soprano Aija Veismane, alto Agneta Otanīke, tenor Mārtiņš Zvigulis, bass-baritone Daniils Pogorilets, with Normunds Everts on timpani and Ilze Reine on organ. The conductor will be Andris Veismanis.
Residents of Riga and city guests are invited to swing on Easter swings at Dome Square, Līvu Square, Town Hall Square, and Bastejkalns throughout the day.
