On Thursday, a charter flight landed at Vilnius Airport, bringing Lithuanian citizens from Dubai. Latvia and Estonia are expecting their compatriots only tomorrow.
The plane was the first to bring Lithuanians back after the onset of tensions in the Middle East. As reported by the Lithuanian embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), other flights are also planned.
It is also emphasized that these charter flights do not change the government's plans to evacuate Lithuanians belonging to the most vulnerable groups from the UAE and neighboring countries.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday a planned evacuation flight from the UAE, although the exact time is still unknown. It is claimed that it is expected in the coming days.
Latvia
The airline airBaltic plans to operate an evacuation flight from Dubai to Riga on Friday, March 6.
Currently, it is expected that flight BT7701 may be operated on Friday, departing from Dubai International Airport at 17:50 local time (13:50 Latvian time).
The flight to Riga is scheduled with a technical stop in Heraklion (Greece) and is expected to arrive in Riga on Saturday, March 7, at 14:10 Riga local time. The flight is planned to accommodate 145 seats.
The government has also decided that the passenger surcharge for the ticket will be 350 euros.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will contact Latvian citizens registered in the Consular Register.
Estonia
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the first evacuation flight from Muscat (Oman) to Tallinn via Hurghada, scheduled for Thursday, will not take place. Departure is expected on Friday at 15:00 local time (13:00 Estonian time).
The first flight will take on board 180 people. The cost of the airline ticket is 400 euros, with an additional 50 euros for transfer. The state's expenses amount to 1000 euros per person.
