10 minutes free - a short-term parking lot has been created near the Riga Central Station

The Estonian parking operator Snabb has opened a short-term parking lot in the square near the Riga Central Station, the company reported.

The amount of investment in the parking lot's development is not disclosed by the secretive Estonians.

Until now, the access area of the square near the station was mainly used as an informal taxi stand. For a long time, there was a lack of clear organization and control, which often complicated traffic flow and caused confusion for drivers and pedestrians.

With the participation of Snabb, the area has been reorganized this year: a regulated public parking lot has been created, providing access not only to the Central Railway Station but also to other facilities in downtown Riga.

The company reported that two designated spots for taxis have been preserved in the area, while the rest of the zone includes eight parking spaces for short-term vehicle parking.

The parking rules have been developed for short-term use: the first ten minutes of stopping are free for all drivers, and thereafter the hourly rate is 3.5 euros.

In order to maintain accessibility and functionality of the parking lot in the city center, monthly subscriptions will not be offered at this facility. Parking can be paid for using the Snabb or Mobilly mobile applications.
