In the evening on Wednesday, a blizzard is expected in western Latvia, starting from the coastal part of Southern Kurzeme, forecasters predict, as reported by LETA.
A light snowfall will begin in some places earlier — from noon in the western and central parts of the country, gusts of southeast wind are expected to reach 9–14 meters per second.
Cloud cover will partially obscure the sky over Latvia, and in many places, the sun will shine. The air temperature in the middle of the day will range from -6 to -11 degrees, and in some areas of Latgale, it will drop to -13 degrees. The frost will feel stronger in the wind.
In Riga, no precipitation is expected, and a moderate southeast wind will blow, warming the air to -7..-8 degrees.
Weather conditions are influenced by an area of high pressure, with an atmospheric front approaching from the west. Atmospheric pressure at sea level ranges from 1019 hPa in western Latvia to 1026 hPa in the east.
