Latvia ranked 7th in the world passport ranking in 2026 for the number of countries allowing entry without a visa, according to a list compiled by Henley & Partners.
Compared to 2025, Latvia has risen three positions, sharing 7th place with Australia, Liechtenstein, and the United Kingdom. Citizens of these countries have access to 183 visa-free destinations, note the ranking compilers.
Henley & Partners does not mention the passports of non-citizens of Latvia - either they do not know or they are shyly omitting it.
As for our neighbors, Estonia is in 6th place - its citizens can enter 183 countries without visas.
Meanwhile, Lithuania is in 8th place - 181 countries do not require a visa from arriving Lithuanians.
For the second consecutive year, Singapore holds the top position, with citizens of this state able to visit 192 countries without a visa, while at the end of the list is Afghanistan with 24 such destinations.
The results demonstrate "the scale of global inequality" in people's mobility, the ranking compilers note. They point out that while in 2006 Afghanistan lagged behind the then-leader - the USA - by 118 countries, by 2026 it will be 168.
"Although a record number of passports are now concentrated at the top of the ranking, those at the bottom remain increasingly isolated, highlighting the expanding global gap in mobility," the press release states.
The top ten (many positions are held by several states) includes Japan and South Korea, the UAE, most EU countries, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
At the end of the list, besides the main anti-leader Afghanistan (24), are Syria (26), Iraq (29), Yemen (31), Pakistan (31), and Somalia (33).
