Latvians are urged to be extremely cautious on the roads - due to the weather conditions, they are slippery.
On Saturday, predominantly cloudy weather is expected in Latvia, with snow falling in many places, locally heavy in the west, according to forecasters from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
In many regions of the country, the snow cover will increase by two to four centimeters, and in some places in the west, by five to nine centimeters.
Visibility will deteriorate in some areas, and roads will be slippery.
A northeast to north wind will blow from weak to moderate, with a moderately strong wind along the coast and in Kurzeme, with gusts reaching 15–19 meters per second, and in the morning along the bay coast, up to 20 meters per second.
The maximum air temperature will be -5...-10 degrees, and along the coast, from -3 to -6 degrees.
In Riga, it will be predominantly cloudy during the day, with occasional snow expected. The thickness of the snow cover will increase by two to four centimeters during the day. A moderate northeast wind will reach gusts of 15–19 meters per second in the morning, gradually calming down during the day. The maximum air temperature will be -5...-6 degrees.
