To address the issue of transportation between Vecmīlgrāvis and Bolderāja, the Riga City Council is considering the possibility of launching ferry services. The program "900 Seconds" (TV3) investigated whether Riga needs a system of regular boat or ferry services connecting different areas of the city.
Almost half — 48% of residents in Latvia aged 18 to 65 — believe that Riga needs regular boat and ferry services, for example, between Vecmīlgrāvis and Bolderāja, connecting both banks of the Daugava and the islands, with routes from Rumbula to the river mouth, from Old Riga to Jūrmala or Carnikava, as well as in other directions.
Nineteen percent of survey participants hold the opposite opinion, while another third of respondents do not have a clear opinion on this issue.
