The Riga municipality invites neighborhood development societies in the city of Riga to apply for financial assistance.
The right to receive municipal support of 1000 euros is granted to neighborhood development societies in the city of Riga that meet the established criteria.
The legal address of the society must be registered in Riga. The society must have been officially registered for at least one year. At the first request for support, the society must have at least ten registered members, and at each subsequent request for support, the number of members must be at least five more than at the previous request; this requirement does not apply to societies with at least 35 registered members. The society must not have any outstanding contractual obligations to the municipality, there must not be a declared insolvency process against the society, and the society must not be in the process of liquidation.
To receive funding of 3000 euros, the society must additionally meet the following conditions:
- The society must have at least 35 registered members;
- The society must have previously received financial support of up to 1000 euros;
- The society must have fulfilled its obligations related to receiving support;
- The society must have utilized at least 90 percent of the financial support provided in the previous financial year.
The purpose of providing funding is to support the activities of societies, strengthen their potential, and promote cooperation with the municipality on issues of community engagement and neighborhood development in the city of Riga, including issues related to improving public infrastructure of the municipality and enhancing public spaces.
Funding can be used to cover administrative expenses, such as employee salaries, rent for premises and equipment, fees for services provided by others to ensure the society's activities, as well as to cover costs for preparing project applications for other financial instruments and for covering expenses for events organized by societies to raise awareness of the neighborhood and strengthen its identity.
Financial support is not intended for the acquisition of fixed assets of the society, payment of bonuses, purchase of gifts, and organization of incentive events for society members, payment of fines, contractual penalties, and late fees, as well as for co-financing projects that are co-financed by the municipality.
Applications for financial support from neighborhood development societies can be submitted from January 7 to February 9.
