The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center predicts clearer skies in Latvia in the second half of the new week.

Meteorologists note that on Monday, there will still be rain in many areas of Latvia, with snow and freezing rain in the east at night, and gusty winds along the coast, especially in the first half of the night. Midweek, precipitation will decrease, but by the end of the week, a new area of precipitation will arrive in Latvia. At night, thermometers will drop below zero in many places, but during the day it will warm up, so negative temperatures will not last long.

On Monday, December 15, the sky will be cloudy. In the western and central regions, there will be intermittent rain. In the eastern regions, snow and wet snow are still expected at night, which will turn to rain with the onset of night and rising temperatures. In eastern Latvia, fog and haze will reduce visibility in the morning and early day.

There will be a weak to moderate southwest and south wind, with a moderately strong wind along the coast from the west-southwest, gusting up to 15-18 meters per second in the first half of the night, and during the day the wind will weaken to 14 meters per second. Minimum night temperatures and maximum daytime temperatures will range from +2 to +7 degrees, and in the east of the country, it will be +2 to -3 degrees at night.

On Tuesday, December 16, the sky will remain cloudy with light rain, and on Wednesday, December 17, the weather will be mostly dry, and the sun may shine.

Midweek, the wind will be weak to moderate from the south. At night, in some places, mainly in the eastern part of the country, fog will form, reducing visibility. Night minimum and daytime maximum temperatures will range from +2 to +7 degrees, and on Wednesday, it will be a few degrees cooler in many areas - the sky will clear, and temperatures may drop to below zero.

In the second half of the week, the weather will be relatively stable, with more intense precipitation expected on Saturday, including rain and wet snow in the eastern part of the country. At night, the thermometer will drop below 0 degrees in some places, while during the day it will warm up to +1 to +6 degrees, warmer along the coast.
