On Thursday, rain is expected at times in Latvia, with heavy downpours in some areas, mainly in Vidzeme, meteorologists forecast, writes LETA.
The sun will occasionally peek through the clouds. The air temperature will be +6 to +9 degrees.
The speed of the western and southwestern winds will reach 12–17 meters per second in gusts in many areas, with the windiest weather remaining in Kurzeme.
In Riga, it will rain at times, with a moderate southwestern wind and an air temperature of +8 to +9 degrees.
It was previously reported that by 5 a.m. on Thursday, the highest air temperature in the country was +9.4 degrees in Daugavpils. The previous national heat record for December 11 was +8.6 degrees, recorded in 1944 in Jelgava. The local temperature record for this date was broken at all meteorological stations except Skulte on the night before Thursday.
Weather conditions are determined by an area of low pressure.
In northern Scandinavia, an anticyclone is beginning to form, which will lead to a decrease in temperature in the coming days.
